Barbara Graham's article "Confessions of a Quit Addict" spoke more to me than David brook's article "It's Not About You" because she uses real life examples that are every day things and that I have seen in people or have happen to me. Such as when she states in the second paragraph that even as a little girl her views and how she felt about things didn't change. As for me when I set my mind on a idea or belief that's what I am going to think or believe. Whereas in David Brooks article he gives ideas that are more complicated and even difficult to understand. He talked about how children were structured growing up and how that no one would prepare them for reality of a "wide open and unstructured" then he goes on to compare this generation to the past generations, who went of f and got married, bought houses and had kids. Which I have never liked the idea of comparing to the past of others because I could not have changed or imp...
I believe that the class went well overall. The things discussed during the class was a reiteration of information but broken down into detail. I succeeded in the tests. They were not easy test but they were a lot of common sense. I did not succeed in the blogs. Mainly Because I don’t like to write. My performance this semester reflects my motivation. I started out well then I passed the tsi and my motivation went down hill. As well as my grades. In the future I plan on doing things differently. That being I will study more. Find or make time to do homework or work that is due.

In Mitch Smith, Jennifer Medina, and Timothy Williams article from the New York Times titled "After Las Vegas Shooting, a Tight-Lipped Sheriff Faces a Maddening Case". A question, asked by Sheriff Lombardo which said, "Do you think this was all accomplished on his own?" After it was said that "Sheriff Lombardo was in charge of one of the most frustrating criminal investigations". A man crashed out of casino hotel window and set fire to a county music festival, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more. Lombardo also feels like he had to have some type of help. "He has had a lot thrown on his plate," said Steve Grammas who also added that the sheriff has "Had to pivot in 50 different directions."       I have to say, after reading my classmate's discussions on this article, that they understood the article well. In my opinion I would have talked more about why it was so frustrating for the sheriff. But, they handled the ma...

In Elvis Presley's "hound dog" from the album from Memphis to Vegas/from Vegas to Memphis , Mr. Presley sings "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog" This is a metaphors because a person can not literally be a dog.       "Thinking out loud" from Ed Sheeran's album X , Mr. Sheeran sings "Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?" This is personification because eyes can not smile.      In Jeremiah's "Planez" from the album Late Nights  Jeremiah sings "Man, my whip so big when you in it" this is a form of hyperbole because his "whip" can not grow just because some one else is in it.

Hurricane Relief in Puerto Rico                    In Jessica Taylors article about Trump and hurricane Maria relief in Puerto Rico titled: "  Trump Touts Relief Efforts in Puerto Rico: ‘We’ve Saved a Lot of Lives’  " from npr.org   is a very subjective article. The title alone will inform you that this is a subjective article from the word ‘Touts’ which means to speak of better than the situation actually is. In the first paragraph Taylor says ‘but as soon as he stepped off the plane, the president was in a self-congratulatory mood. And later in the article she includes a strong quote from San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz “sometimes his style of communication gets in the way, it goes to prove a lack of sensibility.” Which is subjective language.                 A good point Taylor had was on page four she mentioned that ...
Post exam #1                 Exam number one was easier than expected for me. I was stressing over it for no reason. Once I got the exam I felt like it came to me for the most part. The exam was nothing like I expected. It was shorter than expected. The easiest part of the exam for me was the second from last page, the page that had all the fill in the blank answers. The hardest part of the exam for me was the definitions in a complete sentence. It was not the complete sentence that made it hard for me it was defining words. I generally have a hard time remembering the definition of a word. Especially when put under the pressure of an exam. For a person taking their first short answer exam, I would say study more than you would for another exam. It is not like a multiple-choice text where you can usually deduce it down to two answer choices and if you do not know the answer you have a fifty-fifty shot. You mu...
Is America in turmoil? President Trump has a limited filter. His twitter “war” (which could lead to a nuclear war). Trump calls North Korea’s leader Kim Jung Un a “madman”. In response Un calls trump a “dotard” which is “a person, especially an old person, exhibiting a decline in mental faculties; a weak-minded or foolish person. ” According to dictionary.com. America would be better off if everyone just went with our commander in chief. People may not agree or like what Trump does or says but he is still our president. When the people of the United States go against Trump that is when we could have problems, because there is no greater enemy than yourself. For example the greatest casualties for the United States is not World War 1 or World War 2 it is the Civil war. With recent events form trump on the taking a knee during the national anthem trump says “wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say get that son of a B---- off t...
